2016 Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium

While meeting with patients and performing plastic surgery on a day-to-day basis is wonderfully fulfilling, I also have a passion for teaching. Every year, I am fortunate enough to attend medical conferences and meetings throughout the country and across the globe to both use my experience and knowledge to help other surgeons, and to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and advancements in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery. This week, I’m preparing for one event which is particularly close to my heart and one which I have personally participated in for the past 28 years: the annual Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium.

Atlanta Breast Symposium 2016The symposium was founded by a leader in the field and my retired colleague at Atlanta Plastic Surgery, Dr. Carl Hartrampf, and in its more than 30 years, this event has become one of the most unique and well-respected breast surgery gatherings in the world. The hallmark of the symposium is the live surgical demonstrations, in which some of the world’s leading surgeons demonstrate the latest and most advanced techniques for various breast surgeries. However, the event will also feature a number of discussions and presentations about all aspects of breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lifts, and breast reconstruction.

Hartrampf & ElliottThroughout the years, I have had the honor of being deeply involved with the Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium. During this year’s event, I will be serving as Emeritus Chair and will be leading discussions about addressing challenges that arise during breast reconstruction, and about fat grafting, one of the latest and fastest-growing techniques for breast augmentation and reconstruction. I’ll also be hosting a session in which surgeons can seek insight and advice from top breast surgeons regarding unique and difficult cases.

As I look forward to another successful and enriching year at the Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium, I’m reminded of the reason hundreds of surgeons from dozens of countries have come to gather: for our patients. Innovations and findings like those discussed at the annual symposium are allowing patients more opportunities than ever to have breasts that make them feel comfortable and confident.
