The Advantages of Combining Cosmetic Surgery Procedures

Cosmetic surgery can be perfect for patients who want to tweak their appearance and correct aesthetic imperfections that keep them from looking and feeling their best. Although cosmetic surgery is often extremely effective for treating specific issues like removing excess fat or altering a patient’s breast size, it’s common for patients to have aesthetic goals that require multiple procedures. As such, many patients ask if it is possible to combine multiple surgeries into one. Thankfully, as long as the patient is healthy enough, combining cosmetic procedures is indeed possible and an excellent way to get the most out of your surgery experience. By combining, patients can not only address multiple problem areas at once, but they can also reduce the downtime needed for recovery, and potentially limit the costs as well. To help give you a better idea of how combined cosmetic procedures can complement each other, here are a few of the most popular combinations that I perform.

The Advantages of Combining Cosmetic Surgery Procedures
Combining Liposuction with Fat Transfer Injections

Liposuction is the most commonly-performed cosmetic surgery in the US, and with good reason. This tried and true body contouring procedure is a great way for patients to shed unwanted, excess fat that can’t be lost through diet and exercise alone. However, what many patients don’t realize is that the fat removed during liposuction can provide its own unique aesthetic benefits too. Fat transfer injections purify the fat removed during lipo and re-inject it back into the patient’s body to add natural-looking volume to areas that may be lacking. Fat transfer is a versatile procedure than can be used to rejuvenate a patient’s breasts, buttocks, or face.

Combining a Facelift with a Neck Lift

Some patients prefer to combine their facelift with an additional procedure like a neck lift to achieve even more comprehensive results. While a short scar facelift can help patients with moderate laxity in the neck and jowls, more severe sagging may require a neck lift to remove excess skin and fat from the neck area as well as possibly restructuring the neck muscles to help eliminate a double chin or “turkey neck”.

Mommy Makeover

Perhaps the most well-known combination surgery, a mommy makeover combines three body contouring procedures to help women rejuvenate their appearance and reclaim their pre-baby body after pregnancy. A mommy makeover includes liposuction, a tummy tuck to create a firmer abdomen and repair muscles that may have been separated, and a cosmetic breast surgery (either a breast augmentation, a breast reduction, or a breast lift depending on the patient’s specific needs).

Choosing which cosmetic surgery procedure (or procedures) is a personal decision that requires much thought, research, and consultation.
