Take Your Pain Medication

While the amount of pain medication needed can vary depending on the specifics of your surgery as well as your personal pain threshold, it’s important to be honest with yourself and take advantage of the resources available to you. Allowing yourself to be in more pain than you need to be can actually raise your blood pressure and increase your risk for certain complications. So if you need meds to help manage your post-surgery pain, don’t hesitate to take them.

Don’t Forget Your Follow-Up Appointments

Whether any problems arise or not, it is important to keep your follow-up appointments while recovering from your breast lift. Follow-up appointments with your plastic surgeon can be a great way to monitor your results and make sure your recovery is going well. Don’t hesitate to bring up any concerns or ask any questions you may have during your recovery period.

What Breast Implant Size is Right for Me?

One of the most satisfying aspects of breast augmentation surgery is the number of options patients have during the planning and consultation stages of their procedure. Perhaps the most important of these choices is what size of breast implants are the right fit for the patient’s specific aesthetic goals. As a board-certified plastic surgeon with decades of experience performing breast enhancement procedures, I know firsthand just how important it is to find the appropriate implant size that will help the patient achieve the increase in breast volume that they prefer.

But what is the right choice when it comes to breast implant size? That’s up to the patient and how much of an increase in breast size that she wants. Choosing between larger or smaller breast implants is a matter of personal preference. Regardless of what is currently trendy or more fashionable, how you feel personally is far more important than any societal trends. Will Breast Augmentation Affect My Ability to Breastfeed?

The primary consideration of breast augmentation patients is how their new breasts will look following their surgery. After all, the main objective of breast enlargement surgery is to improve the appearance of the breasts by increasing breast volume. But there are more than just aesthetics for patients to consider when considering breast augmentation. If and how breast augmentation can affect a woman’s ability to breastfeed in the future is among the more common questions that I encounter from prospective patients.

In the overwhelming majority of cases, patients who undergo breast augmentation will still be able to safely breastfeed their babies if they choose to. It is not common for breast implants to interfere with breast function, meaning that most patients will have the same ability to breastfeed as they did before their surgery. However, every woman’s body is different and some exceptions do apply. In rare instances, complications like a loss of sensation in the breast can potentially impact a patient’s chances of breastfeeding.
