In a society where there’s sometimes a misconception that women are the only patients who seek the help of a surgeon to restore their physical image, I know this to simply not be the case. In fact, as a board-certified plastic surgeon working with men and women of all ages over the past 25 years, I see more and more men coming into my office to talk about their cosmetic surgery options. Hormonal changes, genetics, and even the use of certain prescription medications can contribute to the growth of excess tissue. When working with a patient who is experiencing these issues, I use liposuction to eliminate excess fat while surgically removing excess glandular tissue to create a smoother, more masculine chest.

I often witness a sense of self-consciousness of appearance and emotional distress from gynecomastia patients.
